Friday, the new supervisor, who has been a council member for two years, said he was greeted on his first day with an empty office when he walked through the doors.
"He stole everything," Cardone said of Doles, who claims the furniture was his but has since returned everything except for an end table and a coffee table.
"We called the police and reported the crime," Cardone said. "That furniture belonged to the town. Someone from finance even found an invoice from years ago when it was purchased."
But even though the desk and other items have been returned by Doles, Cardone said he doesn't want to work in the office or at the furniture of a person he calls a "grifter, who has been a thorn in the side of the everyone who lives in the town."
"I moved offices and I'm getting a desk from the county today because they are moving offices," he said. "You could say there is bad blood, but it's between Doles and everyone, not just me."
He added that Doles was able to stay in office since 2013 because of doing favors for the Hasidic vote in Kiryas Joel.
"About 50 percent of the Hasidic voted for me because they realize how much damage was done by Doles and how we need to get the town back on track," Cardone said.
Cardone says that now that he has some furniture and a new office, he hopes to be able to get to work and first on his agenda is making sure that council meetings don't run for five to six hours.
"We were working with one-hand tied behind our backs because of this person who never held a real job and his cohorts," Cardone added. "I can't stand that man and what he has done. I'm not a politician, but I had to run to get him out of town, he's a parasite."
He was happy to add that employees were also relieved and that many were high-fiving each other when they reported to work on Tuesday.
"Doles was like a black cloud over everyone's head," he said.
